I’m drawn to bouquet paintings, spending hours immersed in the floral works of Impressionist and Cubist masters, collecting photos of those beyond my reach. In the act of collecting, I find a truth about life itself. It’s like the life of flowers—beautiful, but brief; a reminder that everything precious passes quickly, just like life itself.
I love these styles for their rejection of rigid perfection. Loose brushstrokes, asymmetries, and broken rules reveal a deeper truth. Classical perfection can distance us from life’s essence. These imperfect works draw us closer to life’s fleeting nature.
Each loose stroke reminds me that life moves swiftly, and beauty lies in embracing impermanence. These paintings urge us to look beyond flawless surfaces and find meaning in transience, movement, and imperfection. And here, with my own bouquet painting, I contribute my brush to that dialogue—celebrating imperfection, embracing life’s passing beauty. I hope someone in the future looks at it and understands the same concept—that life’s impermanence is where its true beauty lies.
